4 Ways to Support Your Community While Social Distancing

While millions of Americans are all following social distancing mandates and staying home, it can be easy to feel isolated and not part of a community. Just as many of us have adapted to working from home, we can still adapt to how we interact and support our local community.

Here are 4 ways you can engage with your local community while maintaining social distance practices:

Participate in #TakeoutTuesday

Show your local restaurants some love by ordering take out on Tuesday. Snap a picture of your meal to post on social media with the hashtag. Be sure to tag the local restaurant in your post and promote it on all social media accounts.

Organize a community scavenger hunt

Have a lot kids in the neighborhood? Help them eliminate boredom during this stressful time by hosting a scavenger hunt. Create an online event and have neighbor’s post different images in their window. Parents can drive their kids around the neighborhood to check off their scavenger list items.

Write letters

With the elderly being in a higher risk category, many retirement homes are not allowing visitors. Get involved by mailing in letters to your local retirement homes. A handwritten note of encouragement can go a long way and spread positivity.

Donate Your Services

Are you a fitness instructor? Or a graphic design guru? Support your community by offering free virtual services. From helping local businesses with graphic design support to hosting a virtual fitness class, donating your services for free can help eliminate financial burdens’ on community members and help you connect with them.

Don’t let social distancing make you feel isolated, we are all in this together and can support each other through this difficult time.
